Survey 2023
We know better than anyone else the positive impact that Scouts has on both our young people, and us as volunteers. It’s why we all take part and commit what we can to the movement!
As we look to reach our ambitious growth targets we need to be able to demonstrate the impact that we’re having on both our young people and volunteers. This will help us to attract new volunteers and young people to the movement and support our cause for vital funding which will help us to grow.
It’s your key moment in the year for volunteers to have their say and let us know what they enjoy about Scouts and what they’d like us to make better. This is why our annual Scout Experience Survey so important – you can take part now, with the survey closing on Friday 16 June.
The responses really do make a difference. You can read about some of our key findings from last year’s survey in our blog.
Help us to hear the views of young people
Each year we have a great response from our volunteers, which provides us with valuable data that we use to inform how we can further improve the volunteer experience. However, the real power of this survey is understanding the impact and skills we offer our young people. As we strive to be youth shaped in all we do, it’s important we hear the views of our young people.
Last year, the response from young people and parents/carers was incredibly low. This year, we’d really value your support in sharing the survey with the young people we want to hear from.
Young people aged 13+ can take part themselves, and parents/carers can take part alongside their child of any age.
Please do share the survey directly with young people (aged 13+) and parents/carers of all young people in Scouts. We’re especially looking for the survey to be representative of the whole of the UK, so we need everyone to share the survey.
We’ve created some template emails/letters to help you promote the survey. Please do share the survey either directly with your young people or with parents/carers through emails, Whatsapp groups and local social media channels and groups.
There will be a prize draw for ten £50 Amazon gift cards for both young person and parent/carer participants and they’ll also be entitled to a 20% Scout Store discount for taking part.

As a thank you for taking part, everyone who completes the survey will receive a 20% discount to use at Scout Store until 30 September 2023. We’ll also be gifting 10 volunteers, 10 parents/carers and 10 young people with a £50 Amazon voucher for taking part.
